☕ 1938 Coffee: A Brew with Purpose

A Delicious Partnership Between Dizzy Bird and Southampton Rotary

In a town built on tradition and community spirit, something special is brewing. Meet 1938 Coffee—a rich, dark Mexican roast with a big heart and a bold purpose.

Created in collaboration between Dizzy Bird Coffee Roasters and the Southampton Rotary Club, 1938 Coffee celebrates the year Rotary came to Southampton while supporting the Club’s work in Saugeen Shores and around the world.

Where It All Began

The story of 1938 Coffee started with a shared vision: to create something local, meaningful, and delicious. At Southampton Sparkles on November 21st, 2024, Dizzy Bird and Southampton Rotary launched their first-ever signature roast.

“I have long admired the good work the Southampton Rotary does in our community,” said Jon Hepplewhite, owner of Dizzy Bird. “This partnership is one way I can support their efforts. A great cup of coffee brings people together—and we’re thrilled to do that with such an impactful organization.”

Back By Popular Demand

After the first roast quickly sold out, the buzz around 1938 Coffee didn’t fade—it grew.

“We’ve had so many people asking when they could get more,” said Mary Halbert, project lead and Rotarian. “We’re thrilled that Jon once again stepped up to help us bring back the blend.”

On May 16th, 2025, a second batch of 1938 Coffee launched at Dizzy Bird Coffee on High Street in Southampton, giving the community another opportunity to enjoy a great cup while doing good.

How It Helps

Each bag of 1938 Coffee sells for $16, with all net proceeds generously donated by Dizzy Bird to fund Southampton Rotary’s local and international service projects. That means every cup you enjoy helps fund things like youth programs, hospital equipment, clean water initiatives, playgrounds, and more.

Looking for the perfect pairing? 1938 branded mugs are also available for a $15 donation, with sales supporting even more Rotary “Do-Goodery” in our town and beyond.
