85th Anniversary
BUILDING ON OUR PAST FOR A BETTER FUTURE
In 2023 the club will celebrate 85 years of doing good in our Town and around the world.
The Club was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Owen Sound and was admitted to membership of Rotary International on March 21st, 1938. The Charter was formally presented at a special dinner held at the Walker House on Thursday, May 5th, 1938.
A series of events and activities are being planned to celebrate this important milestone as we build on our past for a better future:
- Rotary Scavenger Hunt showcasing Rotary projects in Southampton from April 22nd to May 13th.
- May 5th, 2023 - A members re-enactment Charter Dinner will be held at the Walker House, Southampton at 7 pm.
- May 13th from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm - FREE Family Fun Appreciation BBQ at Jubilee Park Southampton.
- A Signature Community Project to recognize 85 years of service. See how you may submit an idea below.
- Our History Team is updating the history of the club to populate the History web pages and to arrange displays.
- Our video Team is arranging to interview members and other local people to retell stories about the club and its good work in the community.
- .....and more...!

A Signature Community Project
The club has a number of ideas under consideration but if anyone knows of a good cause that is in need of support or a good idea that needs funds to implement we would love to hear from you.
At the Family Fun Day, we are having a "Post A Project" table where we hope you will bring your suggestions and complete a sticker with your idea, your name, and contact details.
The 85th Committee will then review ALL the suggestions and will announce the selected project no later than 30 September 2023.
Projects should fit with "Rotary Values" and be suitable for implementation in Southampton.
