Members of the newly reconvened Interact Club December 6th, 2022
The Interact Club of Saugeen Shores was reconvened on December 6th, 2022 at Saugeen District Senior School following a COVID-19 enforced break.
The club brings together young people aged between 12 and 18 to develop leadership skills through service. The club meets after school on Tuesdays at 3:30 pm.
Interact clubs are expected to organize at least two projects every year, one that helps their school or community and one that promotes international understanding.
Rotary clubs sponsor, mentor, and guide Interactors as they carry out projects and develop leadership skills.
The name Interact is derived from “International action”.

Background to Interact in Saugeen Shores
The club first started meeting in November 2013 and was formally chartered on February 7th, 2014 and has a rich history of developing young leaders and doing good in the world. It suspended operation in early 2020 due to the COVID 19 Pandemic. The first Rotary "Interact Advisor" was Port Elgin Rotarian Dr. Mike Marriott and he was followed by Port Elgin Rotarian Andy Evans and recently Rotarian Erin Zorzi has taken on this formal role supported by Mel Henricken, also of Port Elgin Rotary.
One of their most memorable fundraisers was an “Ipood Bingo” Draw based on the St Thomas Interact Pony Pooping Bingo fundraiser.
In the past members of the club, have supported Rotary Winterama, the Rotary Huron Shore Run and various Port Elgin and Southampton Rotary Club Projects.
Internationally to highlight the problem of poverty in the world and also raise funds they have hosted a series of “Feast and Famine Events”. The members have visited Nicaragua to participate in an affordable housing build project and have assisted in the repairs to an ambulance.
